MetaGate – For fast and simple analysis of complex single-cell data

Recent advances in flow and mass cytometers have enabled assessment of more parameters. Furthermore, the use of such technologies in clinical settings and the need for including high numbers of samples in each analysis, makes downstream analysis complicated, computationally expensive and difficult to interpret. MetaGate provides a solution to this problem by integrating complex experimental and clinical data, enabling fast and simple exploration of large flow or mass cytometry data sets. MetaGate partly automates the traditionally manual procedure of visualization and statistical analysis of single-cell data.

Left: high-throughput statistical testing automatically highlights the most prominent peripheral blood cell characteristics of patients responding to a specific cancer therapy. Results can further be visualized through heat maps or bar plots. Right: at any point in the analysis, groups of patients can be dynamically defined based on any clinical data. This allows the user to address multiple questions in the same dataset. MetaGate can also create regression models to further investigate relationships between clinical and experimental data.

Business opportunity

MetaGate offers higher throughput than other flow and mass cytometer analysis tools. In addition, it adds the ability of integrating meta/clinical data, visualizing summarized data and performing statistical analysis.

Technology description

Recent advances in flow and mass cytometers have enabled assessment of more parameters, and the use of such technologies in clinical settings has generated a need for including high numbers of samples in each analysis. To tackle these large amounts of data, our software includes a data reduction algorithm, which enables very fast statistical analysis and visualization. The software stores the data in a standardized way, allowing simple data sharing and the ability of easily tracing any visualization or statistic back to the raw data.

Business offer

Inven2 AS, the TTO of Oslo University Hospital, seeks out-licensing of the software, as a stand-alone desktop application or as a cloud-based web application.
